After you approve the prototype's fit and function — and any necessary design changes are made to the pattern — the approved master pattern enters the aluminum casting process to create your final production mold, ready for long-run thermoforming.

A wood master pattern is significantly less expensive than aluminum tooling and allows design changes to be made quickly and at low cost. This step lets you physically evaluate the part's fit, function, and appearance before committing to the aluminum casting investment. It dramatically reduces the risk of costly tooling revisions after the production mold is cast, and master patterns can typically be produced in just a few weeks.
